SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER Wilmington, MA Office SUMMARY: This position will provide project management and technical support for complex environmental assessment and remediation projects. Responsibilities will include preparing work plans and cost proposals, developing plans to effectively and efficiently complete projects within budget and regulatory guidelines, scheduling and supervising technical support and subcontractor activities, writing and reviewing technical reports and correspondence, and overseeing the work of less senior managers. The successful candidate will have a B.S. in engineering, geology, environmental science, or related field and 14+ years of professional experience or a Master’s degree and 12+ years of experience. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will have a minimum of 8 years of relevant project management experience. The candidate must possess substantial knowledge of environmental assessment and remediation principles and practices. The successful candidate must have proven experience managing large projects from inception to project closeout, must be computer literate and have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software, and possess proven excellent writing and communication skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing project proposals and successfully completing projects in accordance with the proposed schedule and budget. The required project deliverables will include, but will not be limited to sampling and analysis plans (SAPs), quality assurance project plans (QAPPs), remedial investigations, human health and ecological risk assessments, feasibility studies, remedial/removal action submittals, and long-term monitoring reports. A solid understanding of the CERCLA process is required for this position. The employee will interface regularly with client project managers, government regulators, other contractors, and other stakeholders. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring progress and initiating actions to assure project objectives and schedules are met and work is performed within budget. The successful candidate will be responsible to resolve problems/issues encountered during the performance of work. The employee will have to prepare monthly status reports documenting work progress, including identification of deliverables, funds expended/remaining, and description of remaining work activities, submitted in accordance with client requirements. The successful candidate must be able to resolve conflicts and provide solutions in a professional manner to the satisfaction of the clients. The successful candidate must continually provide leadership for the development and maintenance of high performance project teams. The successful candidate will provide direction to staff personnel to complete project tasks and also mentor junior level technical support personnel. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geology, environmental science, or related field required; advanced degree such as a Masters is preferred. Minimum of 14 years of related experience is required (12 with Master’s degree). Candidates must have 8 years of relevant project management experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to perform routine engineering design calculations. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry.
