SSI_Senior Engineering Manager, ASIC/SoC Physical Design

Position Summary


Samsung Semiconductor Inc, the one of the world’s largest semiconductor manufactures is putting together an elite team of Design Engineers to work on the next generation of Mobile Media System-on-Chip applications. This cutting edge technology will be used in M3P Plays, Phones and other mobile devices.
We are currently looking to fill several System-on-Chip Engineering positions in our San Jose office to support one of the top tier customers in the Silicon Valley, as well as our growing System LSI business.


Common Essential Duties & Resp.


Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Lead the physical design execution and customer engagement in complex media SoC product development using the most advanced technologies
• Build and lead a highly skilled engineering team
• Define project plans and manage the execution covering
o hierarchical partitioning and constraint generation
o complex clocking schemes and CTS
o timing analysis and closure
o power schemes, implementation and closure
o on-chip and IO signal integrity
o soft/hard IP integration and verification
o package selection and definition
o DFT and test vector generation/conversion
o floor-plan
o place-and-route
o post-layout timing/power/SI verification and closure
o ECO
o LVS/DRC
o GDS tape-out
• Execute project plans to tight schedule with dynamic team structures in highly demanding customer engagements
• Track and resolve technical, execution as well as resource issues
• Work with internal engineering organizations, both local and overseas, to develop and improve design methodologies and project flows

Background/Experience


• An expert with hands-on experience as well as solid knowledge of physical design methodologies, tools and best practices
• Having led physical design in multiple complex SoC projects to successful completion in the immediate past years, preferably in 90nm/65nm technologies
• Experienced manager with proven ability to lead diverse and multi-location teams
• Proven ability to deliver high quality results under pressure
• Excellent communications skills to articulate and communicate project plans and requirements both to internal groups and to customers
• Ability to collaborate with management and customers to secure necessary buy-in and support
• Passionate, driven and caring individual
• 7+ years of physical design experience with 3+ years using Synopsys and/or Magma physical design tools
• 3+ years management experience
• BSEE required, MSEE strongly preferred
