Our Bohemia (Long Island), NY office has an immediate need for a Safety / Industrial Hygiene Professional to execute and manage Safety/IH projects as well as assist in stewarding our Corporate Health and Safety Program.QualificationsThe ideal candidate will assist in the management of accounts, support/develop new business opportunities with clients. They shall also provide a high level of technical competency on in-house projects and in mentoring junior staff.Ideal candidates must have 5+ years' related experience and experience in environmental consulting, a working knowledge of federal regulations, an in-depth knowledge of state regulations, and the ability to provide high-end technical support on complex projects. As a senior technical resource and role model, this leadership position requires an excellent attitude and an ability to communicate effectively with clients, regulators, and junior staff. Financial/business management background and Professional Licensure (i.e. New York State Deparment of Labor Asbestos Certification, USEPA Lead-Based Paint, and OSHA certifications) is preferred.The ideal candidate must be well organized, possess advanced writing and communication skills and be able to work within a group environment. The position will include, but not be limited to, the following responsibilities:. Personnel exposure and environmental sampling and monitoring including equipment calibration and sample tracking;. Interpreting collected data and providing written reports;. Evaluating work place compliance with NYSDOL, EPA, OSHA and other applicable regulations;. Providing on-site Health and Safety enforcement and contractor oversight during investigation and remediation of contaminant impacted sites; and. Performing in-house and external training.. Completing asbestos and/or lead-based paint inspections. Creating asbestos design specificationsOther duties will include: Program auditing/updating in accordance with OSHA requirements; OSHA record keeping; Site Specific H&S plan development; development/teaching of HAZWOPER training courses; execution of services for clients related to health, safety and industrial hygiene and; working with management to maintain our excellent safety record and reputation.Key responsibilities include: · Implement Kleinfelder and client strategies intended to result in enhancing a culture of Safety. · Steward implementation and ongoing use of the LPS® System; and collaborate with Kleinfelder Corporate Safety Management and other stakeholders in the LPS® System. · Design and implement metrics to monitor program performance within the account and the effectiveness of Safety initiatives, progress, polices, procedures and process. · Identify training needs; develop and implement Safety awareness initiatives that improve Safety performance. · Collaborate with Corporate Safety leadership and legal staff as needed to resolve legal compliance issues. · Serve as a liaison with city, state, and federal government regulatory agencies as they relate to Health and Safety matters within the areas of responsibility. · Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk, and working with Corporate leadership, develop/implement corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues and provide general guidance on how to deal with such matters in the future.The Safety / Industrial Hygiene Professional should have 5-10 years of experience in multi-state Health and Safety Management with proven regulatory knowledge, experience with agencies in multiple jurisdictions, and a thorough understanding of environmental and Safety laws. Candidates must possess a comprehensive understanding of construction and environmental industry Safety practices and have a strong working knowledge of OSHA and State regulations. Proven experience implementing and leading behaviorally based Safety management systems, such as the Loss Prevention Systems ® (LPS) program, or similar, would be a plus. Excellent communication skill is required.
