Science Supervisor - Hydrogeology

The South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) is a regional agency of the state of Florida, and is charged with managing and protecting water resources of the region by balancing and improving water quality, flood control, natural systems and water supply. SFWMD's boundaries extend from central Florida to Lake Okeechobee, and from coast to coast, from Fort Myers to Fort Pierce, south through the sprawling Everglades to the Florida Keys and Florida Bay. Supervises staff reviewing water use permit applications in accordance with new or established criteria, accepted hydrogeologic and surface water hydrology principles and normal or unusual water use activities; and provides technical advice to other SFWMD units and external organizations. Knowledge of advanced hydrogeology, surface water hydrology, geochemistry and applied mathematics; experience in the use of state of-the-art hw/sw, and in utilizing maps, construction plans and specifications, engineering and environmental reports and water resource computer program output, experience in communicating credibly with other professionals, attorneys, construction professionals, developers, agriculturists, civil engineers and others on the District's water use regulatory program and related matters, experience in analyzing complex water use permit applications and skillfully preparing the necessary written and oral reports commensurate with the complexity of the applications. Ability to schedule and manage time to meet tight deadlines and to train and supervise subordinates. Requires 8+ years of experience in water resource engineering including regulatory related experience and supervisory experience.
