Security Systems Engineers
AcuTech Group, Inc. (AcuTech) is a successful and rapidly growing consulting firm providing process safety, risk management, security, and emergency management services to industry and the Federal government. We offer, among other services, consulting and security engineering expertise to high-profile government agencies.
At this time, we are seeking a number of senior, mid-level and entry-level security systems engineers to support long-term projects for the Federal government and other customers. This work will be based out of our Alexandria, VA, headquarters office, and other local offices, and may require domestic travel. We are looking for degreed electrical/electronics engineers and network engineers to design and oversee the installation of mid and large sized physical security systems including intrusion detection, access control, digital video, security systems infrastructure, delay features, lighting, lock and key controls, and an array of intelligent system solutions.
Job responsibilities include:
Duties & Functions:
Survey of facilities to determine physical security systems needs in accordance with client program guidance Research of system components, and analysis of specifications Development of detailed designs, specifications, plans, and estimates for physical security systems including intrusion detection, access control, digital video, security systems infrastructure, lighting delay features, door, lock and key controls, intelligent video systems, command and control centers, conduit cabling, and fiber optics. Development of integration plans to interface multiple systems elementsExpertise in software associated with access control and digital video systems, including access control database manipulation and related network softwareAbility to troubleshoot complex system problemsPresentation of designs and concepts to senior AcuTech and client management.Development and review of detailed schedules for installation workOversight of computerized design and drafting (CADD) work, to be performed by others.Checking and verification of design accuracy, including component interoperability, device counts, device locations, conduit cable and fiber layout and adequacy, power requirementsOversight and inspections of field work to be performed by AcuTech and other system technicians to ensure accuracy, system performance, and safe job practicesDevelopment of system spare parts lists, maintenance schedules, and maintenance requirementsFor Mid-level and Senior positions, management of teams of junior engineers and technicians in completing multiple design-install tasks
The ideal candidate qualifications are as follows:
For Mid-level and Senior positions, detailed knowledge of off-the-shelf security systems hardware and software, including familiarity with a broad range of access control, intrusion detection and video system solutions. For Entry Level positions, ability to apply skills and concepts learned in college level course work to quickly learn systems and softwareA Bachelor's or higher Degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Network Engineering, or other related field plus: 10 years of related experience for Senior positions, 5 years of related experience for Mid-level positions. Entry Level applicants need not have related experience but applicable systems course work is a plusCertifications, such as Chartered Professional Engineer, CPP, PSP, BICSI-RCDD, and CISSP, definitely a plusWork requires willingness to work a flexible schedule, and some domestic travel will be required Excellent organizational skills Excellent PC skills using MS Office and specialty software (QuickBooks and OpenAir experience, a plus) Ability to work well in teams Outgoing personality Strong initiative and ethics Excellent oral and written communication skillsAbility to secure a security clearance. Existing government security clearance is a plus
