Seeking a Structural Engineer with Dynamic Analysis Experience!

Quality Technical Services is currently seeking a Structural Engineer with junior to mid level experience in earthquake engineering using dynamic analysis.  This is for a long-term contract to possible direct opportunity in the Pasadena, CA area. 

 

POSITION OVERVIEW:


Performs conventional and moderately-complex engineering assignments, applying engineering techniques and analyses within a discipline. The Engineer at this level is proficient in the utilization of standard engineering theories and practices, and Company procedures. Some assignments involve CAE (computer aided engineering)/CAD (computer aided design) applications. Willingness to travel or relocate to supplier, client, or construction site locations, is expected.


 

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Perform engineering tasks and particularly important engineering work efficiently and accurately. May undertake comprehensive research and investigations on major engineering projects.  Makes frequent contacts with inter- discipline involved in the project. Receives general guidance as necessary with work being reviewed for soundness of judgment and, where appropriate, for numerical accuracy. Perform analysis and design of nuclear facilities using structural dynamics and earthquake engineering. Perform computations using the program STRUDL. Work with designers providing design sketches.

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:M.S. degree in Civil Engineering with a major in Structural Engineering from a well recognized university in the field of structural engineering. 1 or more years of professional structural engineering and calculations experience. Courses in structural engineering such as structural analysis, structural dynamics, foundation engineering, concrete and steel structures and finite element analysis are required. Must show ability in applications of the above fundamental knowledge. Experience in the use of codes and standards especially earthquake engineering. Proficient in the use of MATHCAD or similar programs.Background in earthquake engineering using dynamic analysis. EIT registration is preferred. 


SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:Computer knowledge in Microsoft Office. General purpose finite element structural programs, such as STRUDL. Must show ability in applications of the above fundamental knowledge. Experience in the use of codes and standards especially earthquake engineering. .Working familiarity with finite element structural programs, such as GTSTRUDL or SAP2000 also MathCAD or MathLab.  Background in earthquake engineering using dynamic analysis.
