Seeking an embedded consultant with NetBSD, VxWorks and network protocols for 9 mos in Santa Clara

We are seeking an embedded software consultant with networking systems infrastructure knowledge to design, develop and enhance redundancy operations and HA (High Availability) capabilities for the router based Operating System.

 

Location: Santa Clara, CA

Length: 9 months

 

The contractor will design, implement and enhance software infrastructure for communication between components in a complex, distributed computing system with strict requirements for high availability. We are currently upgrading the software for the intelligent router. The traffic flow is upgraded and infrastructure changes are needed. Prior experience on High Availability and Fail Over support is a plus. Will be working on dual controller cards (Active/Passive) and (backplane and chassis). The product is going to SQA testing at the end of the year. Tasks are to resolve issues and perform bug fixing for the first few months with code development at the end of the project.

 

NOT looking for low level driver engineers

BUT looking more at application level – protocol knowledge, routing, etc.  

 

Job Requirements

* Perl, Threading and UNIX scripting language

* Data description and Task synchronization knowledge

* 7+ years of embedded software development experience for network equipment control software.

* Should have experience working in multi-tasking and/or multi-threaded applications.

* Excellent C programming skills are a MUST.

* Solid understanding of emdedded operating systems fundamentals.
* Strong knowledge of NetBSD and/or VxWorks; or related embedded and/or multi-threaded RTOS.

* Experience with debugging and troubleshooting problems.

 

Desired

* Design experience in distributed systems a plus.

* Design experience in redundancy and high availability a plus.

* Experience with solving scaling and performance issues a plus.

* Understanding of IP/Data Networking concepts is a plus.

* Knowledge of encryption techniques is a plus.
