Senior Applications Engineer

AMSC (American Superconductor Corporation - NASDAQ: AMSC) serves the utility, industrial and wind power markets with a host of leading energy technologies based on proprietary high temperature superconductor (HTS) wires and power electronic systems.  We are actively seeking a Senior Applications Engineer to join our team!

Duties and Responsibilites as follows:
Develop solutions to solve customers’ power electronic needs using AMSC productsParticipate in the proposal development and proposal writing and in the closing process with the customerDirect communication with customers to support applications after delivery to customer.Provide input through the Product Marketing Manager into the Technical Specifications for new products and for changes to existing productsSupport commissioning and training of customers.Document customer success storiesAuthor system requirements for customer specific applications and new product developmentsAbility to take lead technical role in new product development or application projects for power electronic based productsAct as a key member of the Product Development TeamRepresent the company at tradeshows and conferences through booth participation and delivering papersAbility to travel both domestically and internationallyDevelop reference designs and sales support tools.
Minimum Requirements for this position:
BS Electrical EngineeringAt least 5-7 years of technical experience in power electronic systems design, product development or power quality.Strong background in systems engineering of power electronic based converters with no less than 8 years experienceExcellent customer interaction capabilityExcellent computer skills are essential (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Strong oral and written communication skillsExcellent interpersonal skillsAbility to write technical proposals and to author customer requirementsStrong systems engineering skills
