Senior Director Design Tools

POSITION SUMMARYWe are currently seeking a Sr. Director Design Tools Automation Group.  This individual will have Strategic, Technical and Administrative Leadership of a multi-site development effort that is responsible for delivering design tools used to design, sell, service and support solutions using Ciena’s product portfolio. These automation tools are expected to start with basic topology and traffic information and: 1) determine optimal placement of network elements, 2) generate quotes and bills of materials, 3) provide network element configuration information, 4) create any necessary install documentation, and 5) be able to capture required service and support information. Individual must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to relate with cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESIndividual will work with Sales, Service and Support Engineers to gather tool requirements, Product Line Managers to determine feature content, Systems Engineers to determine algorithm design, Software Engineers to provide implementation,. Individual will direct the scope, plan and provide full project oversight to a geographically and technically diverse team. This position requires a clear desire to provide the best possible customer experience, a deep understanding of the needs of the sales and service organization and awareness of the software engineering process and an appreciation of the need for disciplined approaches and project planning. The new leader must have a demonstrated ability to successfully deliver high-quality multi-disciplinary solutions to the field. SKILLSSuccessful candidates will have experience in and an extensive understanding of the selling and deployment cycles and processes typical in Tier-1 carriers and large enterprises.
