ITT is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to support programs in Free-Space Optical (FSO) lasercom and signal processing and communications systems, participating in all phases of the system development life cycle.Responsibilities: Lead the end-to-end design of embedded systems. Perform system trades to assist in selecting all subsystems including computing platform and operating system, communications interfaces, and data acquisition interfaces. Create software architecture and design, and lead small teams of embedded software engineers in the development of embedded software. Support systems engineering and product assurance teams in system verification. Required: BS in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering, with MS preferred. At least 7 years experience in embedded systems development, with at least 3 years experience leading and managing software development teams. Experience in leadership roles supporting formal software engineering processes, in all phases of the software life cycle.Required Skills: C/C++; Linux; open source software; real time operating systems such as Wind River, RTLinux, Monta Vista, and others; development of device drivers; multi-threaded software; Debugging embedded software using JTAG and/or In-Circuit-Emulators (ICE).Desired: Experience with the X-MIDAS signal processing environment; Experience with closed loop control systems, Experience with communication theory and signal processing; Experience with code and algorithm optimization; Experience with FPGA development using VHDL or Verilog. Experience with hardware/software co-development and System-On-a-Chip (SOC) development. Experience with bus and interface standards such as PCI and VME. Experience with the TCP/IP network protocol stack.
