Senior Hardware Engineer (Cost / Value Engineer)

Explore this challenging opportunity with JDSU as a Cost Engineer based in Germantown, Maryland. This position is ideal for an engineer who likes working hands-on in electronic and mechanical design and reliability and product engineering. The selected candidate will work with junior Cost Engineers and be responsible for meeting and implementing cost reduction goals on existing products. Solutions generated may result in an innovative combination of existing knowledge and creation of new processes, products or services having a positive financial impact on JDSU. The incumbent in this role may influence and develop state-of-the-art designs of modified, high-density, printed circuit boards, electronic packaging or mechanical components.

To be considered for this opportunity, you should possess the following qualifications or abilities:

1) Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering. Minimum 6 years directly related experience required. Higher level educational credentials with equivalent work experience a plus.

2) Primary background with hands on experience in hardware with the ability to design, implement and verify receiver designs comprising discrete PLL's, VCO's, filters, amplifiers, etc. (Required)

3) General knowledge across several disciplines including embedded SW/DSP, Digital, Mechanical, factory processes. (Preferred)

4) Experience in developing a product through the entire lifecycle by gathering requirements to transitioning to operations.

5) Excellent demonstrated communication and project planning skills.
