Description

UOP, a Honeywell Company is an international supplier of process technology, products, engineered systems and technical services to the petroleum refining, petrochemical, gas processing and energy industries and is a leader in the research and development of petroleum and petrochemical processing.  Our broad objectives center on the continual development and improvement of petroleum refining, petrochemical, gas production, energy and chemical production technology.

 

There is an immediate opening for a Senior Hydroprocessing Technology Specialist (Chemical Engineer) in the Hydroprocessing Service and Sales Support Group within our Catalyst, Adsorbents & Specialty Materials Division (CA&S). This position is accountable for the execution of substantial and varied Service assignments; requires independent evaluation of, and develops recommendations for optimum operation of customer operations; acts independently (minimal direction) to perform most assignments where the expected result is identified in general terms; and utilizes understanding of customer operations to assist Sales in the development of Catalyst Performance estimates.

 

Accountabilities include:

Evaluate commercial operations, through remote monitoring or on-site troubleshooting, of UOP and competitor technology to assist customers in achieving their goals;

Develop performance estimates in support of CA&S Sales and assist in the preparation of Technical Proposals;

Take actions to meet or exceed customer needs; continually searching for ways to increase customer satisfaction; and managing relationships with customer operations staff;

Work closely with upper management to resolve product guarantee and other customer issues; and work effectively with service departments in our Process, Technology, and Equipment (PT&E) business to ensure that customers receive consistent, high quality service that incorporates all new information obtained across UOP businesses;

Create operating procedures and process improvement techniques that maximize customer earnings while meeting the highest standards for safety;

Work with Development and Manufacturing to assure that UOP delivers high quality products that will meet customer needs;

Provide support to Sales through customer visits, technical presentations, licensee symposia and papers; mentoring less experienced engineers and scientists;

Contribute to short and long term development project ideas in existing markets to improve quality or to meet new customer goals or to address a competitive threat;

Develop tools for efficiently delivering service and for applying Catalyst Development findings to meet customers’ objectives;

Effectively communicate UOP recommendations, requirements and benefits.

Assist with related projects as may be needed.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Requires a minimum of a bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering

A minimum of 5 years of experience in Technical Services 

 

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Prior experience in hydrocracking preferred;

Advanced Degree preferred.

Strong verbal and written comunication skills;

Strong mechanical map

Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills;

Ability to work well in a team environment;

Ability to travel from time to time to customer sites, which may include international travel.
