PURPOSE: The Senior Image Scientist will be responsbile for image quality measurement methods and characterizations and must be able to work collaboratively within our inter-disciplanary team of optical and imaging experts. Duties will include IQ analysis, system level image quality optimization, interacting with sensor and image processing vendors to tune and optimize image quality, interfacing with customers to help them measure and optimize IQ and I3A/CPIQ standards committee participation. PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES/DUTIES: VistaPoint image quality authority. System level analysis of VistaPoint camera module image quality and optimization of VistaPoint camera module image quality. Software modeling of camera image quality. Training and development of other VistaPoint image quality staff. Development of camera phone image quality metrics including quantitative and subjective metrics. Development of camera module image quality characterization methods. Psychophysical evaluation design and derivation of analytical metrics from human judgment data Development of camera test and calibration flows and procedures Customer advisor and consultant on image quality. Development of metrics to quantify the performance of new image processing features such as Extended Depth of Field (EDOF) technologies. Development of IQ characterization test and analysis methods. Participating in the I3A/CPIQ (camera phone image quality) committee.   BS Engineering (Image Systems Engineering, Image Science, Optical Engineeering, Electrical Engineering or Physics) 5+ years digital still camera, film camera or CMOS image sensor image science engineering experience Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Customer facing technical experience. Working knowledge of radiometry, optics, image formation physics, color theory, statistics (experimental design and quality control), image processing mathematics, human visual response, psychophysics/subjective scaling Desired Qualifications: MS or PhD in Image Systems Engineering, Image Science, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Physics Advanced imaging training (university or on the job) Color science expertise and job experience CMOS image sensor image pipeline/processing algorithm design or analysis experience AF and Zoom algorithm development experience.
