SUMMARY OF POSITION: Plan, direct, and execute engineering projects related to manufacturing methods, processes, facilities, systems, and equipment using comprehensive knowledge of existing capabilities and new technology. Implements the manufacture of new products or product lines with the emphasis on integrating using the most efficient process and manufacturable design. Interfaces with manufacturing personnel to improve existing processes. Responsible for updating and creating labor standard packages to permit accurate costing as design and process improvements are implemented to ensure full benefits and standard maintenance of our incentive system. Provide technical expertise to support daily operations to achieve significant improvement in production related objectives. Investigate and resolve safety related projects. Perform ergonomic assessments and participate in incident investigations. Manage high-visibility, strategic capital projects; manage focused teams, run meetings, make regular reports, execute major equipment purchase contracts, replicate existing equipment, develop training and operational documentation. Lead lean events such as 5s, kaizen, TPM, and SMED. Other significant dimensions of position (use reverse side if necessary): Prepares capital expenditure requests, frequent interaction with upper management and outside suppliers and agencies, including regulatory personnel. Coordinates projects with people at all levels, departments, and facilities within the organization. Performs work with little or no direct supervision. Independently designs and develops projects to support overall company objectives. Wastewater and environmental responsibilities may be included. Experience, Education, Training required for this position: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related field, 5 - 8 years of progressive experience in manufacturing engineering. Metal forming, fabrication, and welding experience preferred. Significant computer skills to enable incumbent to utilize database, spreadsheet, and word processing programs; to utilize presentation programs while conducting meetings; to utilize Computer Aided Drafting programs; to regularly utilize the capabilities of the Local Area Network to perform work effectively. Experience in time study analysis such as MTM.
