Senior Packaging Engineer in the Food Industry

This position is with a major food company and could be located in either New Jersey or New York.  This position will be focused on developing future packaging technologies for applications across the sector.  The correct candidate will have the opportunity to lead breakthrough packaging development initiatives from concept to commercialization, working closely with processing and product development technologists to develop innovative programs to drive growth.  Primary job responsibilities are listed below:

Develop cooperative working relationships with Marketing, CIS, and external material vendors to develop and apply packaging innovations.

Lead, identify, define, and solve technical packaging challenges.

Develop, test, and commercialize breakthrough packaging problems across the business unit.

Drive the pipeline development/validation/execution of innovative packaging projects.


Qualified candidates must have a B.S. degree (preferably in Packaging Science or Packaging Engineering), and 3 - 10 years of experience in Packaging Development within the food industry.  In addition, the candidate must be self driven, organized, have strong communication and time management skills, and have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.  In addition, should be able to understand the financial impact of packaging programs, and the connection between packaging and business strategies.

Travel up to 20%.

Experience with flexible film/paperboard/corrugate preferred.

Commercialization/Plant Operations preferred.
