Refineries are in Richmond and El Segundo, California; Kapolei, Hawaii; Salt Lake City, Utah; and Pascagoula, Mississippi.Chevron Products Company is accepting online applications for the position of Sr. Process Engineer located in Richmond, CA.Overview:The Senior Process Engineer will provide support for various refinery processes including Crude & Vacuum Distillation, FCC/Alkylation, Solvent De-asphalting, Reforming, Hydroprocessing Units, and Environmental areas. The Engineer will use their experience to provide engineering support in all phases of capital project development and construction.Qualifications:Key Job Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:- Capital Project Development - Provide engineering support for capital project development and construction. Develop design basis and front end engineering for minor and major capital projects. Examples include long term refinery capital project vision planning, conceptual project development, technology selection, and detailed engineering. - Individual Work Contribution - Provide engineering support for various refinery processes including Crude & Vacuum Distillation, FCC/Alkylation, Solvent De-asphalting, Reforming, and Hydro-processing Units. Support requires answering technical inquiries, making technical recommendations, providing process troubleshooting, and developing process procedures.- Mentor/resource – Act as mentor/resource for refinery process and control engineers. Influence and improve work processes for a global refining technical system.- Operations Support and Development - Develop procedures and support for commissioning of new facilities. Facilitate agreements on operating philosophies and control strategies on refinery units. Participate in unit optimization teams to work on short and long term process improvement opportunities.- Business Improvement Network(BIN) /Refinery Support - Network with counterparts in other refineries to leverage shared expertise. Provide global support to refining system. Carry out various studies to improve plant safety, reliability, and economics. Help identify gaps between current performance and best-in-class and recommend opportunities for improvement.Required (Basic) Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering is required. - Must be able to understand and use appropriate process engineering tools. - Self-motivated with the ability to originate and adapt to new ideas. Able to work without supervision. Ability to step up and take ownership of specific team efforts. Able to proactively champion technical issues and see them through to completion. Able to handle multiple activities simultaneously.- Able to plan and organize projects from inception to start up. Must be flexible to respond to Refinery and capital project support needs as priorities change with specific business needs. - Good written and oral communication skills. Strong ability to work well with other Refinery groups in cross-functional teams. Able to communicate technical ideas to a wide range of groups within the refinery. - A strong ability to mentor and teach less experienced engineers engineering principles and the use of process engineering tools. Ability to teach control operators about optimization opportunities and technical issues related to their units. Ability to lead teams and projects often in high profile situations. Respected as a leader/champion of technical issues. Good meeting facilitation skills. - Effectively interface with Operators, Mechanics, Supervisors, and Management to complete projects and tasks on time and on budget to meets the business objectives. Ability to seek out customer's needs and prioritize own work accordingly.**US Citizen and/or Proof of US Residency is required.Preferred Qualifications:- Knowledge and proficiency with process simulation software packages is desirable.- A basic understanding of refinery processes/equipment and understanding of the interaction between refinery units is highly desirable.- Expertise in a key focus area like distillation, hydro-processing/reforming/etc. is a plus, but not essential. - Knowledge and basic understanding of advanced control is desirable.
