Senior Product Engineer - Athens, GA

Description:Eaton Corporation located in Athens, Ga has an opening for a Senior Product Engineer. This position will report into Marshall, MI, but will be located in Athens, Ga. The primary function of this position is to provide product engineering support of superchargers and air management systems which are currently in production. This will involve all of the following activities: A. Acts as liaison among customer, supplier, manufacturing facility, Sales, and division engineering in planning, design review, review of manufacturing processes and other functions. B. Maintains timely and effective communication with supervisors and peers through avenues such as e-mails, monthly reports and engineering reports. C. Leads and/or participates on project teams for various engineering projects. D. Provides guidance and direction to less experienced engineers, designers, and technicians. E. Works closely with higher level engineers and technical specialists to increase functional knowledge. F. Conducting or supporting field failure analysis, developing recommended corrective actions, and providing necessary reports. G. Develops new products and processes and improves existing products and processes.H. Responds to direct or indirect customer inquiries regarding function and design and attends customer meetings. I. Reviews and reports on significant product developments through written correspondence. J. Implements design changes to improve quality, performance, VA/VE cost reduction, and standardization through analysis of designs and problem solving techniques. K. Releases products according to the APQP process. L. Coordinates engineering decisions on design deviations for manufactured and purchased components, performs stackups and statistical analyses to help assess the risk and make a decision. M. Assists manufacturing and quality in troubleshooting product / process issues. N. Education: Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering Preferred)B. Experience: * 3-5 yrs of experience designing and validating internal combustion engines and/or components - including engine boosting (suerpcharging and/or turbocharging)* Knowledge of rotating equipment or complex mechanical systems, including castings, bearings, gears, shafts, and shaft seals would be beneficial* Well developed communication skills* Understanding of related validation requirements, procedures * Knowledge of component and system testing and manufacturing procedures required* An understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing along with the ability to perform tolerance stack-up calculations will be required to perfom tasks related to this position* Must have experience with 8D and/or other structured team problem solving tools and techniques, as well as Design of Experiments* Ability to operate CAD (ProEngineer) preferred* Design for Six Sigma experience is preferred* Experience with manufacturing and supplier development preferred but not requiredSalary/Benefits: Salary commensurate with experienceEaton's comprehensive benefits package - medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement savings plans and more - offers flexibility, choice and value.
