The Yahoo Search team is looking for one such experienced and motivated senior software engineer. You will be working to build and improve our query processing pipeline, entity and keywords detection platform, solving several performance, design and architecture problems working closely with other teams. The candidate should be able to scope and define undefined problems using intuition, common sense, relevant data, strong academic knowledge of Computer Science (algorithms, data structures, etc), and software development experience. The candidate should be able to analyze the existing system, make and implement recommendations for improving overall design, scalability, performance, and modularity of the system without compromising the functional capabilities provided by the system. The candidate should be able to analyze, contrast and compare a variety of different technologies, languages and protocols in the same context. Academic knowledge and experience in web information retrieval, entity detection / keywords extraction, natural language processing and machine learning a plus. Minimum Qualifications: Solid object-oriented programming experience Proficiency in programming and data management Proficiency in C++ Strong coding and debugging skills Experience designing and architecting high performance systems Proficiency in UNIX/Linux tools and utilities Experience w/ PHP Strong communication skills Preferred Qualifications: B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or a related field NLP Machine Learning WEB Information Retrieval Data Mining 5+ years of software development experience Yahoo!
