Senior Supplier Development Engineer

Senior Supplier Development Engineer

Swagelok Company is a global developer and manufacturer of fluid system components for a variety of industries since 1947. We currently have an opportunity for an engineering professional to manage the technical assessment, development and improvement of designated inventory and inventory-related suppliers with limited management oversight.

Key Responsibilities: Demonstrates a high level of proficiency when representing Swagelok and interfacing with suppliers, including their executive management.Performs audits of existing suppliers, including desk audits of quality manuals and data sheets, site audits of processes and systems and annual assessments of performance.Performs supplier selection related activities for potential preferred and key suppliers or complex commodities. Activities include desk audits, site visits, on-site audits and the completion of related documents and form.Approves audit reports and reports findings as required. Provides analysis and input for annual Supplier Development meetings and participates in these meetings as required.Issues, follows-up on and approves the responses to supplier CAR’s. Provides advanced problem solving, statistical, analytical, and experimental design assistance. Initiates and/or facilitates resolution of problems related to Swagelok specifications or methods. Provides training, coordinates implementation and provides approval/rejection of supplier Ship-to-Stock packages.Participates in supplier ‘Sourcing Review’ meetings as required to ensure quality-related procedures and requirements are clearly understood.Coordinates gauge or process capability studies, first article inspections and evaluation requests as needed. Provides technical input for strategic sourcing projects, including assessment of supplier capability, specification review and support of project implementation and part transitions.Recommends and manages approved cost-reduction and performance improvement projects related to supplier manufacturing processes.Manages medium to large department level projects intended to develop or improve systems and processes to meet Global Sourcing requirements and goals.Assists in the development a other Supplier Development Engineers Submits monthly project report.

Position Requirements: Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or quality-related field required; advanced problem-solving training required (SPC/statistical analysis; DOE). Maintains on-going education in related areas. Experience: 5+ years experience in manufacturing process design and development, quality planning or engineering, and/or quality control supervision, or ASQ-CQE required; 6-12 months ISO/QS9000 implementation and/or auditing, or ASQ-CQA preferred; advanced problem-solving experience preferred (DOE, statistical analysis).Skills/Knowledge: Strong computer skills, including basic Word, PowerPoint and Project, and intermediate-level Excel; advanced statistical data analysis skills; working knowledge of statistical software such as NCSS, Statistica or Minitab; strong knowledge of metrology and general mechanical inspection methods and procedures; familiarity with Total Quality and Lean Manufacturing concepts preferred. Demonstrates proficiency in preventative control planning and process validation methods, disciplined problem-solving, troubleshooting quality and manufacturing systems, and auditing. Demonstrates product knowledge and expertise within assigned area.Frequent travel is required, including international travel.
