SAIC: From Science to Solutions™ The Simulation and Research Services Division within the Science and Systems Engineering Solutions Business Unit (SSESBU) in Hampton, VA has an opening for a Sr. Systems Engineer - Air Traffic Management. Job Description: Support air traffic management (ATM) research and development activities such as modeling and simulating current and future commercial airspace operations, and conflict detection and resolution at NASA Langley Research Center using distributed simulations. Tasks include developing and modeling current and future airspace operations, e.g., en route and approach operations, and current and future onboard avionics system characteristics that are directly related to communication, navigation, and surveillance (CNS) functions for ATM research support. Develop and maintain a pilot-in-the-loop flight deck simulation system to support evaluations of technology and tools for advanced airborne separation and operations planning applications in improving future air traffic capacity and safety. Development of system level software that supports architectural changes made to the simulation environment. Required Qualifications: Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science or related engineering studies is required; Masters of Science is desired. Required Skills: A minimum of 7 years of experience in modeling and simulation of aircraft and airspace operations, 3 years in real-time pilot-in-the-loop simulation, and 3 years of programming experience in C/C++ are required. Desired Skills: Experience with commercial airspace operations, commercial avionics systems, CNS, and aviation in general is highly desirable.
