A company is currently seeking a Sr. VOIP Engineer with expert- level experience designing and deploying carrier-grade data and/or VoIP telephony services. The ideal candidate will have a work history with a large carrier (ATT, Level3, etc.), LEC, CLEC, or IXC and have been personally responsible for large-scale voice and data networks. In addition, the right person will be able to leverage their experience to assist in the development/delivery of data and telephony services over satellite or other wireless mediums. This will ultimately result in new and improved products, additional revenue streams, penetration into new vertical markets, cost savings, and network efficiencies.
Responsibilities
Assist in the development of a data and voice (VoIP) strategy that will provide carrier-grade telephony services over satellite or other wireless technologies
Collaborate with other Network Engineers around the globe in the design and deployment of new services and/or enhancements to existing voice services
Recommend technical solutions that will enhance, increase levels of redundancy and survivability, and add flexibility to existing global Companies network
Design and deploy services that are derived from the network and not tied to a single facility or contain a single point of failure
Assist in the design and development of products that will allow the company to continually outpace the competition with technology and innovative services
Assist in the development/refinement of the overall network security strategy and design
Develop detailed documentation and implementation plans that can be executed with a high probability of success
Fine tune network management systems to notify personnel in advance of catastrophic failures
Improve the availability and reliability of voice services provided across the network
Assist in the development of visualization and/or instrumentation that effectively depict the health and monitoring of telephony services
Qualifications

BSEE preferred but will consider candidates with the right combination of relevant work experience or degrees in related fields. CCIE certification preferred but may be substituted with equivalent knowledge of routing, switching, and VoIP Over 5+ years of professional experience in related field with a demonstrated track record of achievement
Experience in one or more of the following technical areas (the more, the better):

Expert level experience and hands on working knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)
Expert knowledge and extensive experience with QoS techniques across different WAN technologies
Extensive experience with WAN technologies (MPLS, Frame-Relay, etc.)
Expert level experience and knowledge in IP, ATM, SONET, POS, Ethernet
Expert knowledge of vocoders and various ITU standards including G.729, G.723, G.711
Expert use of protocol analyzers, network sniffers and management tools, and other ‘tools of the trade'
Experience with Cisco Call Manager and gateways preferred but must be familiar with commonly used voice protocols (SCCP, MGCP, SIP, H.323, etc.)
Extensive experience with session border controllers, NAT/Firewall traversal, gatekeepers and call accounting techniques
Excellent technical and interpersonal skills with ability to work within and across organizations that are geographically separated
Ability to perform extensive analysis and generate reports that accurately depict the results
Develop and understand network models and perform 'what-if' scenarios
Ability to train and influence peers, superiors, and subordinates with material based on facts and personal experience
Ability to effectively communicate/interface at all levels within the company
Advanced computer/application skills relevant to the industry
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Self-starter who is inspired by technology, highly organized, and ability to work with minimal supervision
Ability to multi-task and work in fast-paced, high stress situations in a professional manner
