Software Test Engineer

At ARA we develop cutting-edge physics-based modeling and simulation software to help our US government customers solve problems of national importance. Testing these complex applications requires skillfully employing software verification best-practices combined with an understanding of the complex physical effects they model and different users’ needs. If you are an experienced software test engineer looking for an opportunity that challenges your abilities and want to work on software that involves more than just clicking buttons, we’d like to hear from you. In this position you will be part of the development team, working with developers and engineers to deliver reliable software which produces high-fidelity simulation results with interactive 3D visualization. You will analyze requirements and designs to devise appropriate test strategies, document manual procedures and develop automated test scripts. You will execute test cases, troubleshoot, characterize and report defects, and verify fixes. As part of our growing Quality Assurance team, you’ll have the opportunity to work on multiple projects, help evolve our standard methodologies, and expand QA into new areas. If this sounds interesting, and you have: BS in engineering or computer science Minimum 2 years software verification testing experience Exceptional oral and written communication skills US citizenship (Successful applicants will be required to apply for a Department of Defense security clearance.) Preference will be given to those candidates with: Hands-on experience with Rational Robot or other automated test tool programming experience in Visual BASIC and/or VBA CMMI or other software process improvement models Prior DoD or military experience
