Sr. Director, Quality and Engineering

The Sr. Director of Quality and Engineering is responsible for directing and managing all aspects of Quality Assurance and Engineering supporting Supply Chain, Quality Control Center (QCC) Operations and Field Operations.  This position will lead a team of Engineering and Quality technicians responsible for ensuring Papa John’s Better Ingredients, Better Pizza standards throughout our Supply Chain and QCC’s while improving system wide productivity and efficiency.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.
- Responsible for the development, implementation of and compliance to all QA process control parameters for suppliers, QCC Operations and restaurants.
- Ensure enterprise risk management process execution and compliance including product recovery/recall.
- Assists in the development of product specification and supplier capability analysis working with R&D and suppliers.
- Ensures compliance to comprehensive supplier qualification process for new suppliers and/or new product launches.
- Assist in the development and implementation process of new product development.
- Assist in the development and implementation of innovative production technologies in QCCs and supplier plant operations.
- Identify Supply Chain cost savings leveraging teams technical resources in partnership with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
- Responsible for development of a short term and long term capital and asset maintenance plan for all QCC Operations.
- Ensures regulatory requirement compliance within QCC operations and Supply Chain.
- Team is responsible for development and final review of all specifications for production/manufacturing equipment in QCCs.
- Development of an updated system-wide field QA complaint tracking process ensuring timely communication, follow-up and resolution.
- Provide oversight of the development and implementation of a QCC system-wide CMMS system providing a standardized platform for preventive maintenance and spare parts management.
- Develop and manage department budget and manage all financial aspects of the department including QCC Operations Capital Budget.
- Develop and maintain long-term strategic capital plan that includes equipment replacement and productivity improvement/cost savings.
- Establish department goals and objectives with cross functional alignment and company goals.
- Manage team performance in a fast paced high performance work culture.

FUNCTIONAL SKILLS
- Demonstrated quality management experience in consumer products food processing/manufacturing operation.
- Development of sampling plans, methods, SPC and process specific functional criteria to ensure appropriate supplier QA process capability.
- Demonstrated product specification development.
- Manufacturing new product development experience including process capability and feasibility analysis.
- Applied engineering experience including production line/process design, greenfield plant start-up and process improvement.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, construction drawings/blueprints, machine manuals, P&IDs and electrical schematics required.
- Demonstrated continuous improvement methodology experience (Lean Manufacturing, TQM, Six Sigma..)
- Strong technical troubleshooting skills
- Proficient with Windows based PC software required.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written (English)

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree required. BS Engineering
- CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) preferred
- Minimum seven (7) years progressive management experience required in food industry, preferably in consumer products food manufacturing
