Senior Electrical Engineer performs a variety of engineering assignments to carry out the construction, remodeling, renovation, and maintenance to support of military installations. 

 

Essential Duties & Job Functions:Acts as the OPR (office of primary responsibility) for projects assigned to insure programming requirements are complete, design requirements are complete, funding coordination is complete in order to deliver a complete project, ready to advertise for construction contract award.  Performs planning and design work for multi-phase new construction, renovation, and improvement projects for a variety of real property facilities, including utility systems, utilizing a professional knowledge of electrical engineering.  With limited guidance, applies judgment in researching, developing, and preparing conceptual designs and quantitative criteria, cost estimates, and time schedules for large and complex facilities and utility systems projects. Develops and compares alternative layouts or designs which utilize equipment of various kinds and capabilities in diverse physical arrangements.  Provides electrical engineering guidance to project design team members.  Participates in design review and progress meetings.  Serves as the design liaison with the Army Corps of Engineer as required.  Maintains current electrical engineering data for assigned projects. Serves as an electrical engineering consultant on all electrical design aspects of assigned projects.  With limited guidance, provides professional consultation on electrical engineering issues and problems.  Provides advice to requesting organizations.  Interfaces with contractors, Army Corps of Engineers, architect and engineer (A&E) firms, and contracting officers to resolve unforeseen problems during design interfaces, regulatory constraints, and facilitates the exchange of information to expedite work.With limited guidance, coordinates the preparation of and reviews A&E statements of work (SOW).  Provides standards and criteria for specialized, difficult, or unusual project requirements.  Reviews preliminary and final engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates of A&E firms or other government agencies to ensure design excellence and compliance with specifications.  Serves on A&E boards and acts as the technical representative to the contracting officer in negotiation and administration of design contracts.  May be involved in construction contract source selection boards.  May act as a technical expert for the contracting officer on dispute claims resolution for contract work.Coordinates projects with engineers in other disciplines or with architects.  Applies knowledge of other disciplines to determine coordination effort required to address various design considerations.Keeps abreast of emerging technologies for programmed development.  Uses computers/computer software such as information management programs, computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) programs, and project tracking programs to solve engineering problems and facilitate work.  Keeps current on relevant software applications.Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment.  Observes that federal, state, and local codes concerning health, safety, and environment are strictly adhered to in the programming, design, and construction of real property facilities.Job Requirements

Mandatory:Top Secret ClearanceBaccalaureate Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.Minimum sixteen (16) years of design experience in related field (may substitute advanced degree)U.S. Citizen.Valid state driver’s license.Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.Mature judgment and ability to work with little or no supervisionMust be highly organized and take initiative.



Preferred:

· Professional Engineers (PE) license.

· Masters Degree/PhD.

· Applicable military experience.

· InfoSec experience.
