Sr. Engineer - Electrical/Controls
As a Senior Electrical Controls Engineer you will apply flexible batch systems as well as statistical/model based type of control. May also be responsible for motion based packaging systems, as well as integration of packaging machines into optimized packaging lines. This is a corporate position supporting consumer food manufacturing facilities in Grocery, Refrigerated, Frozen and Snack Food Platforms.Drive technical solutions to multi-disciplined project management teams by applying commercially available technology in the areas of electrical power distribution, automation, and control hardware, software, and programming. Develops discipline- specific design standards and guidelines for application across the enterprise. Provides technical support to Research, Quality, and Innovation (RQI) project groups, plant teams, and IT network teams on a requested basis.Position Responsibilities1.) Collaborates with all Platform engineering groups to develop annual and 3-year capital plans by recommending automation, controls, and power distribution improvements and solutions that are commercially proven in both concept and performance. 2.) Develops enterprise wide standards, guidelines, and templates for automation, control hardware, software, and programming, and electrical distribution power for application within the enterprise-wide method of Front Ending Loading Packages (FEL s). 3.) Works with other engineering disciplines to design and specify complete and effective control and power solutions by preparing clear, concise and thorough FEL packages that reflect prudent due diligence and conform to Enterprise-wide FEL formats. Works to allow synchronization, clear responsibility boundaries, and flawless transcription among the various engineering disciplines and project stakeholders. 4.) Performs reviews (own work and peer reviews) of FEL packages for accuracy, completeness, and operational effectiveness including but not limited to: i. Technology assessment and recommendation evaluation that reflect plant, ConAgra, and industry best-in-class practices. ii. Proposed arrangements and placements (drawing level) iii. Infrastructure requirements, needs, and impacts on current operations. iv. Equipment and system performance criteria v. Operational staff needs assessment to ensure technology is appropriate and sustainable for the proposed plant. vi. Identification of alternatives, risks, prerequisites, and opportunities 5.) Provide on-site support to project teams during design reviews, initial start-up activities, periods of focused improvement implementation, and when technical trouble-shooting exceeds the plant s capabilities. 6.) Identifies and supports intra-platform and cross-enterprise programs and solutions focused on improving manufacturing capacity, capability, and sustainability, or reducing end-product variation all with the bias toward generally reducing total delivered cost and supporting growth. 7.) Keeps current with the latest automation, control, and power distribution technology and commercial application of the same. 8.) Keeps current with the latest and emerging industry regulations and codes relative to automation, controls, and electrical power system design and operation 9.) Provides technical and economic feasibility support to other groups within the company as part of both continuous improvement activities and marketplace competitive advantage development. 10.) Supports development of electrical and control engineering talent within ConAgra through effective use of internal resource development tools and external training and recruitment.Position Qualifications BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Computer Science with extensive experience in process control and automation with the food or consumer product manufacturing industry. Will consider complex batch chemical process experience. Background applying flexible batch systems as well as some experience in statistical/model based type control preferred. Experience with motion based packaging systems, as well as integration of packaging machines into optimized packaging lines is also a plus. Sr. Engineer - Minimum 8 years related experience Excellent technical knowledge, verbal and written communication skills, technical analysis, problem solving skills, and project organizational skills are required.
