Purpose:   Improve customer competitiveness by developing design enabling applications based on needs, market trends and the conversion of new technologies. Position drives mechanical design and value engineering activity as part of a senior level development / support team within our corporate technology function. Principle Accountibilities: Define product level opportunities and create engineering content to drive test vehicle development to demonstrate production solutions Leadership role in supporting development activities across multiple Flextronics segments and design centers Utilize experience and expertise to collaborate development activity across a complex matrix organization Product level design support for material development initiatives being driven by Corporate Technology Collaboration across design centers throughout Flextronics to leverage design resources on critical Flextronics product development initiatives   Development of advanced mechanical tools and a leadership role in the rollout and standardization of such tools Implement DFx principles by working with both internal and external resources to assure cost targets are managed and most innovative industry solutions are considered Align Solutions Engineering activity to the Flextronics Technology Development Process, and assure projects are properly managed to deliver solutions at the beginning of the customers’ product planning phases.  Research and investigate new and emerging technologies related to Flextronics business development and growth strategies, and coordinate process development with various subject matter experts ·Work closely to develop technical relationships that can help to secure early involvement with our most strategic customer accounts.           BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivilant experience; 6 – 10 years of relevant engineering experience with a design and product development emphasis Excellent communication skills and ability to proactively develop and drive initiatives Advanced training and experience with various plastic, metal, and associated processing technologies Experience with materials, tooling, finishing, & secondary assembly processes Experience with specifications, testing, and qualification for a variety of consumer electronic products Experience in 3D modeling with Pro Engineer & supporting tools Ideal candidate will provide professional engineering methodologies and apply them hands-on to the product development process Additional general engineering experience in manufacturing processes, tooling, and project management is desired Domestic and International travel required – approx 30 - 50% Flextronics is an Equal Opportunity Employer.    Click here to apply for this job http://flextronics.ats.hrsmart.com/cgi-bin/pm/click.cgi?job_id=8094&site_id=123
