Structural Analyst

Atlas Copco Drilling Solutions is responsible for the R&D, manufacturing and marketing of a wide range of rotary drilling equipment for surface mining, deephole drilling, civil construction, waterwell, aggregate/quarry, and oil and gas markets around the world. ACDS employs about 800 people worldwide. ACDS has it’s headquarter and main production site in Garland, Texas, USA.  We have an immediate opening for a Structural Analyst.

 

OBJECTIVE:

Responsible for the FEA analysis and structural engineering, quality, performance, and integrity of self-contained mobile drilling equipment. This position is responsible for all current and future products. This position reports to the VP Engineering.

 

Responsibilities:Responsible for all the structural analysis of large mobile mining and drilling equipment.Provide FEA support to all design teamsInvestigate the structural problems reported from the field and develop new design to retrofit.Develop new productsDevelop improvements to existing productsConduct R&D on new technology and new ideasDevelop engineering standards

 

KNOWLEDGE:

This position requires a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years experience or M.S. degree with 5 years experience. Advanced technical expertise in structural design using steel alloys, finite element analysis and fatigue analysis a must. Must have excellent problem solving skills. Must be adept at managing multi-tasks and supporting all engineering groups. Must be proficient in ANSYS, Pro/E and Pro/Mechanica. Competent in AWS fatigue calculations and bolted joint analysis a plus.

·  Must be willing to travel to customer sites when required

·  Responsible for meeting the objectives of our ISO programs.  When there are any questions regarding these programs they shall be directed to your supervisor/manager or the facility ISO representative.  Supervisors and managers are responsible for communicating policy and objectives of ISO programs to their employees.
