Structural Project Engineer

Preparation and checking of structural analysis, design computations and contract documents for water, wastewater and industrial process facility projects. Design components include reinforced concrete, structural steel, reinforced masonry, wood truss and metal structures, tanks and buildings. Duties also include checking contractor submittals and shop drawings for projects described above. Assist senior engineers in technical evaluations of materials & products and in field investigations of existing structures including preparation of reports. Assist senior designers & drafters in preparation of contract drawings, some drafting and coordination with CAD operators is involved. The ideal candidate will be a self starter with prior exposure to client management, experience with industrial and municipal clients and the ability to thrive in a matrix environment. Position will involve interaction with the industrial and municipal sector wastewater service lines and the person in this position will be able to cross markets internally and with clients, members of professional organizations and external vendors. This position will play an important role in helping the firm to grow our practice and achieve our aggressive growth goals for the region. - BS degree required, MS preferred - 5 to 7 years of direct relevant experience with structural analysis and design - Must have completed coursework in design of reinforced concrete and structural steel - Professional registration in Structural Engineering is a minimum requirement - Superior people skills, i.e. strong written and oral communication skills are a must - Ability to work independently with minimal supervision - First-hand knowledge of current Building Code(s) and the design of new structures, including reinforced concrete, steel and timber design methods - Technical writing skills - Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel - Experience with MathCAD, Visual Analysis, STAD, AutoCAD, and Micro Station is a plus - Mobility around New England & New York Woodard & Curran is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.
