Structures Engineer

JOB OVERVIEW:

 

ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVES:

 

Structures Engineer who completes complex designs for aircraft repairs and modifications accurately, on time and on budget.

 

NATURE AND SCOPE:

 

Provide accurate structural designs.  Assist Operations by providing technical direction to resolve design and manufacturing issues on-the-spot.  Prepare and implement supporting work plans to achieve program objectives.

 



PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

· Accomplish detailed design for structural repairs and alterations of aircraft.  Prepare

documentation (for example, Certification Plans and Instructions for Continued Airworthiness) as necessary to satisfy customer, company and regulatory requirements.

· Work with Operations to resolve fit and produceability issues, and to produce robust, accurate designs with zero rework.

· Monitor and report status versus requirements (cost, schedule, etc.) on assigned programs.

· Analyst Engineering roles:  Complete engineering analysis of designs (static and dynamic loads, fatigue, damage tolerance) and complete the appropriate structural substantiation report(s).

· Perform additional duties as directed.



 

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: 

 

Must:

 

· have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

· have previous, relevant experience designing structural repairs/alterations of aircraft (corporate-type aircraft strongly preferred).

· have awareness of design practices necessary to comply with FAA regulations and policies.

· be proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications.  Experience with SolidWorks is a plus.

· be able to work either alone or as part of a team to solve problems.

· be a self-starter with the ability to generate alternative ideas.

· have excellent written and verbal communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
