The Technical Support Engineer is responsible for providing technical field support for service providers and end-user customers on Ingersoll Rand Centrifugal / Reciprocating /Rotary air compressors installed both domestically and international. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring field issues are identified and resolved quickly to reduce, prevent and eliminate customer equipment downtime and ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty are retained.

Primary Responsibilities
•Provide day to day timely response and accurate information to assist the field with troubleshooting of problem equipment.
•Lead responsibility for equipment field issues resolution from "seed to flower".
•Use field feedback and experience to work with Engineering and Manufacturing to implement corrective actions aimed at improving product reliability and reduction on warranty expense.
•Develop and conduct effective technical training for service providers and end users to improve their ability to maintain and repair equipment.
•Assist with development of new products to ensure potential issues are identified and resolved early in its design.
•Initiate and develop unit modifications when involved in reliability issues and lead to product redesign through Engineering.
•Compile and publish field service bulletins to ensure field personnel have access to latest updates / reference data

BS degree in Technical/Engineering required
Excellent Communication Skills
Proven ability to act confident, courteous and professional in all situations requiring direct customer contact.
Ability to proactively resolve customer issues, take responsibility to form and lead teams as required to drive corrective actions and follow through to conclusion.
Requires sufficient experience and ability to work effectively acting on own initiative with minimal supervision requirement.
Ability to be involved in and deal effectively with several issues simultaneously via phone / fax /email etc, under pressure in most cases to resolve issues fast due to customer distress.
Willingness and ability to physically work on equipment as required in the field which will require knowledge of safety procedures [e.g. lock out/tag out] and also correct lifting practices [rigging for heavy machinery + how to avoid personal injury etc]
The position requires travel both domestically and internationally including weekends as required.
It is necessary to provide after-hours customer support cover on a rotational basis typically every 3 weeks. [Including weekends] via pager and cell phone plus laptop.
Required to make technical assessments on warranty claims and decisions to assign defect cost liability.
