POSITION SUMMARY: Saint-Gobain’s High-Performance Materials (HPM) sector includes a wide variety of businesses worldwide. Products include: electro-fused ceramics, high performance refractories, advanced ceramics, silicon carbide, specialty crystals, chemical process products and high performance plastics. The Techno-Marketing Team (TMT) runs strategic projects for HPM and SG which require:• External watch networking: Identify, analyze, compile, validate, summarize and extrapolate strategic data on market and technology trends, including competitive information (financial, technical, value chain, IP…). Among others, contact OEM’s, end users, consultants, trade associations, VC firms, university incubators, assess start-ups of interest, attend seminars and shows … in order to select best opportunities – and evaluate their attractiveness for HPM and SG – in new market areas. 30%• Assess Internal Competencies: Identify, synthesize and articulate the technology core competencies and market positions of current HPM (or SG) businesses. Utilize mapping of capabilities and SWOT analyses as building blocks to identify of conceive new business opportunities in existing, new, or emerging markets. 25%• Project Definition and Progress: Refine project scope and deliverables with relevant parties, establish core team and key contributors, and develop project plan/time line to achieve objectives. Present and communicate findings to and interacts with TMT Director or Group Leader, Project Steering Committee, as well as HPM Management, operational management, colleagues in TMT, researchers and marketing staff on a regular basis. Select, exploit and suggest tools or approaches to achieve project goals more efficiently. 15%• Project Conclusion: Make recommendations and propose solutions to the management based on market and technology assessments, current Saint-Gobain / HPM position and project result expectations. Based on project type, develop exploratory R&D proposals, detailed business plans or strategic options for next steps. Could include marshalling technical/market resources, defining possible alliances or partnerships, selecting acquisition targets, participating to acquisition processes, securing external funding etc. Debrief and support the team in charge of the next steps for a smooth transition. 15%• Synergetic Activities: Organize events/information to enhance synergies among business and R&D communities. Facilitate working sessions, communication and cross-divisional exchanges on synergy opportunities. Support key HPM/SG Sector R&D projects (Transversal, Exploratory…), Innovation-oriented activities in general, and initiatives in main R&D Centers 15%Additional Responsibilities:• Create a grassroots proactive culture of safety (physical) by encouraging, empowering, and involving all staff in safety.COMPETENCIES: • Solid experience in R&D, Marketing and/or Application Engineering and/or Business development in an international environment; • Strong analytical and project management skills • Formal training (Master’s degree) including at least one advance degree in technical fields (Physics, Chemistry, Materials science, Electronics, Civil Engineering or Construction-related) and in Business Management (emphasis on marketing and/or innovation and/or strategy)• Excellent communication and presentation skills• Fluent in English, and knowledge of French or other languages • Knowledge of Saint-Gobain materials, products, processes and/or markets is a plus • Understanding of Venture Capital funding and start-ups is also a plusTO APPLY: For immediate consideration, please apply below.
