Termination Operator/Welder

Termination Operator/Welder Our client creates solutions for subsea challenges! They are currently looking for a Termination Operator/Welder to work at their office located in Mobile, AL. This would be a direct position with the company.

Summary:
Initiates the general assembly and preparation of the Termination parts and equipment for the umbilicals. Must be certified to operate and monitor the welding equipment according to the prescribed guidelines and procedures.

Principal Responsibilities:
1. Confer with technical and supervisory personnel to establish that a termination activities plan is carried out according to procedures.
2. Be able to interpret general assembly and preparation drawings for termination.
3. Inspect equipment and parts for deviations prior to assembly.
4. Abide by all safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
5. Have thorough knowledge of the construction and function of the termination assembly.
6. Ability and understanding on how to run the various welding machines used in the termination process.
7. Able to make adjustments to welding parameters in accordance to welding procedures.
8. Day to day maintenance and inspection of the umbilical welding equipment.
9. Monitor and document day to day operations of the termination work.
10. Operate a forklift and overhead crane.
11. Uses appropriate tools and extreme caution when preparing the umbilical for termination.
12. Proficient in the welding of super duplex stainless tubing.
13. Responsible for knowing and understanding the procedures and other relevant activities associated with the preparation (shielding/back gas, beveling, wall thickness, positioning etc.), welding (WPS- welding procedure specifications, welding qualifications acc. To NS-EN-287), and welding inspection.
14. Subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur both inside and outside.
15. The termination operator/welder is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, and exposure to high heat.
16. Cleans work area once per shift or as required to meet safety requirements.

EXPERIENCE:
Several years experience in a manufacturing environment is required to fulfill this position. Experience can include but not be limited to; operating/working around heavy production equipment and/or chemical processes, millwright, pipe fitter, welding, control room operator, active participation in safety/quality initiatives. Also, need experience with Orbital and hand tig welding.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Skills required include but not limited to: reading instructions/procedures, reading project drawings, report writing, log book writing, visual assessment of surroundings, excellent communication skills, use of hand and electric tools.
Knowledge required but not limited to: understanding OSHA regulations, ISO 9001:2000 requirements, company organization structure, knowledge of dangers associated with heavy moving equipment and machinery, ability to understand procedures/JSAs/work instructions.


EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
