Comtech EF Data Corporation, a satellite communications equipment manufacture, is searching for a highly motivated individual to fulfill a Test Engineer 3 (Senior Test Engineer) position with a strong background in Electrical and/or Computer Systems Engineering in the area of satellite communications. Specifically system level product validation, qualification, and verification.

Description:

Perform functional, interoperability exploratory, performance and regression testing on digital satellite modems and RF Microwave products through software scripting. Design, plan and execute tests based on development of First Article Test Procedure (FAT) that verifies product specification. Work closely with Research & Development engineers to resolve product functional and performance issues. Responsible for ensuring product quality is maintained through test coverage and creating test methodologies that reduce validation time without sacrificing quality. Provide assistance in development new testing techniques, researching and evaluating new test equipment, building new test systems and test process improvements. Provide functional and performance related feedback to development engineers to improve product quality.

Education:

Requires a BSEE/CSE and 5-7 years or equivalent work related experience. Previous experience with software application code including Java, python, C, and Perl a plus.

Experience:

Required skills include: Developing First Article Procedures (FAT) based on system level product specifications. Create test methodology and test scripts to validate satellite digital modems and RF Microwave products. Strong background in satellite communications including Modulation, Sequential, Viterbi, Reed-Solomon and Turbo Forward Error Correction (FEC), DVB, DVB-S2, Telecom interfaces including, RS-232, RS-485, RS-422, EIA-530/Mil-188-114, HSSI, ASI, LVDS, PECL, TTL is highly desirable. Test Equipment experience requirements: Spectrum Analyzers, Digital Storage Scopes, Network Analyzers, Power Meters, Carrier Noise Generators (CNG’s), Function Generators, Network Analyzers, Bit Error Rate (BER) Analyzers, and Frequency Counters. Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, Power Point and technical writing. Previous experience with software application code including Java, python, C, and Perl a plus.
