Test Lab Manager

The new Warren, Michigan facility draws upon Bodycote’s worldwide experience and brings new capabilities to the local area, including: state-of-the-art computer and life simulation testing, expanded materials testing for polymers/plastics, metals, coatings, textiles, and failure analysis. The Center of Excellence also provides robotic test centers, instrumentation design and build, durability testing, and environmental conditioning/corrosion testing. This central facility will provide the support and service for the transportation market with the ability to test to worldwide standards to confirm both import/export requirements and conformance validation demands.

 

Bodycote's Warren, MI location is currently seeking a Test Lab Manager.

 

The primary role is to assume responsibilities the day-to-day operations of the department including technical staff supervision and development, optimizing people and equipment resources, and ensuring client programs are delivered on time and on budget, meeting or exceeding annual revenue and EBIT targets.

Duties and Responsibilities:Develop and maintain technical staff expertise including a staff competency matrix, technical, H&S and Quality training, conduct annual reviews and set developmental plans for all reports.Manage the conduct of all client programs in the lab including contract review and regular project meetings with staff and clients to ensure completion of project deliverables in a timely and cost effective manner.  Provide input to Business Development staff at the proposal feasibility & costing stage, and update them regularly on the status of their projects.Maintain at the ready all lab equipment including preventative maintenance programs including detailed records; maintain an inventory and inventory record of all required routine maintenance parts and materials.Set-up maintenance contracts with external vendors for all critical equipment.  Adherence to Bodycote's Quality & Purchasing systems, Health & Safety policies and the administration of the BTGA 5S program.

 Education and Qualifications:

 

· Completed Chemistry Engineering degree.

· 5-10 years of related management experience.
