Thin Film Coating Process Technician

Job Description:

This position reports to Thin Film Coating Process Supervisor and is responsible for the operation and support of thin film silicon solar cell manufacturing machines to ensure that high quality solar cells are produced.

Job Responsibilities:

-Operates vacuum-technique-based machines to perform thin film coating.
-Makes process engineering experiments for multiple PV process optimizations under process engineer’s instruction.
-Executes process trouble shooting based on the trouble shooting guides created by process engineer for thin film coating.
-Applies quality control and data analysis, writes daily summaries.
-Records process conditions and production observations.
-Measures thin film samples and devices, prepares graphs and tables
summarizing results.
-upports projects dealing with high efficiency solar device development.
-Able to troubleshoot general mechanical and electrical problems of thin film coating machines.
-Cleans thin film coating reactors, leak checks a thin film coating system.
-Operates knowledgeably laboratory process equipment and instrumentation.
-Performs other duties as required.

Job Requirements:

-Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Physics, Material Science, Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
-Knowledge and experience with liquids and gases commonly used in semiconductor processing.
-Must not be allergic to liquids and gases commonly used in semiconductor processing.
-Knowledge and experience with standard operating procedures, protocols and engineering data reports.
-Knowledge and experience with computers (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
-Ability to stand, walk, manipulate (lift, carry and move) weights up to 50 pounds, climb ladders.
-Must wear gloves to handle thin film processing, products, solar cells/modules.
-Vacuum-technique-based thin film coating or related work experience is preferred.
-Willing to work in a shift schedule and in a team-based environment.
