Transport Delivery Project Manager

SUMMARY

This is a specialized position within Network Engineering responsible for all circuit and trunk delivery coordination within a market.  This position has ultimate accountability in ensuring that a market/project milestones are met by the myriad of groups taking part in the circuit and trunk delivery process.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Attend site development, construction and site on air meetings as a communications conduit from CIC Network Engineering personnel and Telephone Utility providers.  In these meetings, this position reports all circuit delivery milestones, as required by the site development team.Attend and drive frequent meetings with the Telco to insure circutis are delivered per milestone dates.  In these meetings, this position reports to the Telco the status of all pre-requisits owned by the site development team and the CIC Network Engineering team.Attend and drive frequent meetings with the Network Engineering team to ensure milestones are met and tasks are being completed.  In these meetings, this position reports to the Network Engineering team the status of all pre-requisits owned by the site development team and the Telco.Keep all dates current in all trackers required for the project, including the site development tracker and the Network Resource Management tool.Run and distribute all necessary reports to all parties involved in circuit and trunk delivery.Escalate all technical and non technical issues requiring resolution to the proper team.Inform Network Operations teams when circuit turn-up activities are required.Issue work orders to internal team members to complete work.Follow all departmental and company process to deliver circuits and trunks and develop processes when they do not exist.Assist other team members with activities that support the overall Market/Group objectives.

COMMUNICATION SKILLSThis individual must be an expert negotiator to both internal and external vendors and customers to complete circuit delivery activities.  Many of these team members may attempt avoid taking accountability, therefore, swift action to resolve interpersonal conflict is required.Fluency in written and spoken English at college entry level is a must.Able to create, format, spell-check and deliver clear and concise technical documents in common word processing and spreadsheet software.

 

SELF-MANAGEMENT SKILLSThis individual must possess driver mentality.  This individual must not take “no” or “I can’t do it” for an answer ever.Can effectively prioritize tasks in order of importance.Does not procrastinate or put off hard or unpleasant tasks.Focused and organized when deciding what needs to be completed first.  Applies logic and organizational abilities to project.To be effective, the individual in this position needs to be able to weigh the issues and balance the reaction/adjustment to ensure that the circuits are delivered in time to meet projected new cell site on-air dates.  In some instances it may be neccasary to escalate issues through other internal and customer departments to meet scheduling. The tracking of private line and  trunks involves dealing with many variables arising throughout the implementation process.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:New Hires:4-year college degree (preferred), or equivalent experience that resulted in acquisition of the above Functional/Technical Skills.5 years telecom (preferred)Worked in a Power/Telco/Utility coordination and delivery role in the past.Can demonstrate working knowledge of Digital Telephony Hierarchy.Can demonstrate working knowledge of Switched Access Trunking.Demonstrate experience working as a Project Manager in a telecommunication infrastructure deployment project.Demonstrate good leadership skills, advanced technical abilities, and the ability to train network personnel.Knowledge of various carrier service offerings, including strong background in tariff offerings.Internal Promotions: A minimum of 5 years verifiable experience performing Transport Design functions AND a minimum of 1 year in the employ of the Network Engineering Division of CIC.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Ability to work on a computer for extended periods throughout the day.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENTPredominately will work in home office environment with computers and multiple monitors for extended periodsMay be required to work in remote areas several hours from medical facilities, on mountain tops, off-shore platforms, rooftops or on floors of multi-level buildings without elevator access.May be exposed to excessive noise; may be around moving machinery; may be exposed to marked changes in temperature and/or humidity; may be exposed to dust, microwave and may work in confined quarters.May be required to ride as a passenger in aircraft, cars, buses, boats and other public and private modes of transportation.

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires the ability to travel 15% of the time.
