Full Time Stage Manager
Position Summary:
Responsible for the management and supervision of the AMT crew, including sound, lights, stage and other vendors and subcontractors. Also responsible for assisting in the planning and development of in-house and celebrity shows. Oversee all department areas, including workshops, FOH/BOH, etc. in order to maintain safety, organization and cleanliness. Also responsible for ensuring the quality, consistency and highest possible production values for all shows.
Areas of Responsibility:
1. Supervision of the technical crew
· Hire, train and supervise the stage and technical crews during performances and changeovers
· Establish and maintain safety standards for all backstage and technical areas including rigging/fly system
· Create crew schedule for all performances, changeovers and maintenance projects
· Track and manage crew time and payroll, in order to minimize OT and communicate schedule
· Establish and maintain SOP’s for all stage and tech crew activities
· Train and supervise the Assistant Stage Manager and other crew members to help with all areas of responsibility
· Coordinate and manage all technical aspects of the theater and its staff, including lights, sound, scenery, rigging, etc. to ensure quality, consistency, safety and accountability
2. Stage management during performances
· Oversee and assist with deck moves, flyrail, etc.
· Promote good communication and safety habits among crew during shows
· Oversee daily maintenance of scenic elements of the show including set pieces, rigging, special effects and hard and soft flying goods
· Serve as primary contact between Company Show Manager, cast and crew during performances
· Respond appropriately to emergencies during the performance of a show
· Check stage, Greenroom, Technical, and Dressing Room areas after the final performance of the day to ensure cleanliness, organization and safety
· Oversee quality and consistency of all stage and technical crew performance
3. Planning and Development
· Attend design meetings and rehearsals to help plan for in-house and celebrity productions
· Plan, schedule and manage load-in/outs and changeovers
· Research and develop special effects, scenic elements, improvements to facilities and technical systems, etc.
· Create and manage budgets and inventories of supplies, materials, tools, equipment, etc.
· Assist in the assignment and organization of deck moves for in-house shows
· Coordinate trusses and battens between scenery, props, lighting, etc.
· Supervise the specification and installation of stage machinery and scenic elements within the parameters of the theater
4. Manage Celebrity Concerts
· Communicate crew requirements, technical, dressing room, and stage set-up information
· Establish the crew calls and assignments including names, positions, and times
· Serve as technical contact and act as liaison prior to and upon arrival of the Celebrity entourage
· Communicate with House Manager as needed regarding show logistics
· Assist with load-in / load-out, and the running of the show as needed
· Assist Production Manager in the advancing of Celebrity contract and rider requirements
· Maintain an inventory of supplies and equipment needed for Celebrity performances
· Interface with the caterer, transportation company and other subcontractors as needed to insure proper administration per artist contracts
· Oversee quality and consistency of all production areas and employee performance to ensure highest possible production values for our audiences
5. Any and All additional responsibilities as assigned by AMT management
