Human Resources Manager

SMG, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has an excellent and immediate opening for a Human Resources Manager at the Salt Palace Convention Center, South Towne Expo Center, and the Ogden Eccles Conference Center in Salt Lake City.  The Human Resources Designee performs all aspects of Human Resources Operations, assists with day-to-day accounting functions, as well as administration and maintenance of all Facility Benefit Programs, consistent with SMG policies.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Follows SMG Human Resources policies to assure compliance with legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions.  Maintains compliance with state regulations concerning employment.Performs recruitment activities.  Writes and places advertisements.  Recruits, interviews, tests, and selects employees to fill vacant positions.  Plans and conducts new employee orientations.Keep records of benefit plans participation such as insurance and pension plan, personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance review, and terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting.Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee related issues.  Advises corporate office of EEOC complaints and other employee related problems.Maintains records through filing, retrieval, retention, storage, compilation, coding, updating, and purging.Administers benefits programs such as life, health, dental, and disability insurances, pension plans, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, and employee assistance.  Serves as the COBRA and FMLA Administrator for the facility.

QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university. 2 years related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience administering benefit programs.Solid knowledge of principals and practices of personnel administration. Proficient In Word and Excel. Experience with ADP or HRIS software desirable.Familiarity with COBRA, ERISA, FMLA and related state and federal regulations required. Irregular hours and minimal travel may be required.
