Lead Groundskeeper
This position serves as a working lead responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of the maintenance performed by the Grounds team working in many different facets of grounds care and exterior facility operations. The Lead is directly responsible for the day-to-day operations of routine grounds and maintenance duties including exterior cleanliness, lawn and planting care, seasonal maintenance, snow and ice removal, and special projects.
Working lead responsibility for the maintenance and daily upkeep of the following:
Complete care of all landscaping, trees, shrubbery, lawns, floral, and green belt areas of the property
Exterior hard surfaces and loading dock cleaning of the facility; including trash and debris removal and snow and ice removal
Irrigation systems and timing mechanisms
Facility cleaning of exterior hard walls and doors
Exterior furnishings, fixtures and equipment
Exterior flags
Facility equipment fueling
Coordinates department activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of the Grounds team and its resources
Minor maintenance of grounds tools and equipment, (i.e., spark plugs and oil changes, blade sharpening, etc.)
Develops, modifies, and maintains department policies, procedures, and work standards in coordination with Department Manager
Ensures that the Grounds crew has the proper and sufficient tools, supplies, and equipment to perform assigned tasks
Make recommendations to management with regard to equipment and materials needed
Works in a team environment to help ensure facility success
Requisitions and purchases material and equipment needed by the team
Identify developmental needs of the department and staff to help improve experience, skills, and abilities
Maintain a safe working environment
Qualifications:
Three to five years experience in a grounds maintenance position
One to three years of supervisory or lead experience
Landscaping and horticulture experience preferred
Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the methods and skill in the use of equipment, materials, and tools appropriate for grounds keeping and heavy equipment operation (i.e., hand tools, mowers, trimmers, utility vehicles, forklifts, sweepers, plows, front-end loaders, power washers, etc.)
Experience with computer-based operating systems and basic software
Ability to read and interpret diagrams, sketches, blueprints, and manufacturers’ manuals
Valid Class C Colorado Driver's License required
Ability to communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing to include good organizational and inter-personal skills
High School diploma or GED; trade school or higher education experience preferred (landscaping and horticulture certifications favored)
Mechanic and small engine maintenance experience preferred
