Account Manager

Serves a key focal point of contact between GSS and Financial Institutional client(s) and affiliated agents; Fund Accounting/Administration, Compliance, Fund Treasurer, Transfer Agent, External Investment Advisor and Trading Desk.  Ensure the delivery of all service requirements in accordance with agreed upon service standards, trust instrument and Mellon Policies and Procedures.  Act as the client coordinator with all GSS functional departments and related Mellon entities that deliver services to each of the incumbent¿s assigned clients while balancing the interests and requirements of Mellon GSS.  Direct a service group for total Investment Management support for a defined group of clients and investment managers.  This position is accountable for overall client and/or investment manager satisfaction.

 

Responsible for the training and development of all members of their assigned service team.  The incumbent will be accountable for the day-to-day custody service delivery support over the investment and related transactions, execution of client direction/instructions, formal client reporting including client billing, management reporting and check processing for a defined group(s) of these clients/investment managers.

 

He/she will be required to effectively interact with other senior level managers in Mellon GSS (client service, systems, sales) for new business and problem resolution for existing clients.  The incumbent will also be required to support routine business reporting to the GSS SMG including KPI, risk indicators, errors etc.  The incumbent is also required to interact directly with Client, Investment managers, Accounting/Compliance agents and Transfer Agents.  He/she will be responsible for driving business related meeting the client, GSS management and other related parties.  This manager would be assigned to the more complex Mutual fund Custody Client or Clients with regard to the relationship(s) size, complexity level and custom servicing requirements.  The Client assignment will be regarded as a high profile relationship(s) based on assets under management, number of funds and revenue base.  This position will hold increased approval limits/financial controls.

 

The incumbent will be responsible for all aspects of human resource management over both the exempt and nonexempt associates of their assigned teams.  This manager would be assigned the simple to medium level complexity of clients and/or investment managers as determined by transaction types, volumes of accounts and transactions, sensitivity of the client/investment manager, and exposure/risk to the corporation.

 

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting or equivalent work experience.  Five plus years experience in investments, banking, or operational environment required.  Strong customer service and problem solving skills required.  Knowledge and understanding of the securities industry, its players, foreign exchange markets, and settlement practices in domestic and foreign markets are essential.  Strong relationship management, communication, and presentation skills are also required.  Must be proficient in the use of a PC and word-processing and spreadsheet software.  The ability to work independently and under pressure while adhering to strict processing deadlines.  The incumbent must demonstrate the ability to work with all levels of management and processing staff Interviewing and hiring experience also a plus.  Five years prior experience as an Account manager I and Account Service Officer II is preferred.
