Summary

 

This Application Architecture team provides architectural leadership and support to brokerage and cross company development, and their client business units and technology groups.  This person will contribute in-depth technical knowledge to help lead the design of customer-facing products for in the areas of rich internet application user interface design.

 

ResponsibilitiesThe candidate will partner with  development groups to facilitate the delivery of competitive web solutions and experiences for internet self service applications. This role combines strong technical architecture expertise, a solid understanding of core business functions, and a broad knowledge of hardware/software products/platforms to deliver and maintain application solutions to meet business needs. The person in this role must also have a detailed understanding of major Client related technology initiatives as they relate to the application product and use this information to provide technical architecture leadership to development projects. Varied duties will include conducting technology assessments, developing POCs using RIA technologies, technology transfer, internal consulting, and creation of requirement documents, design documents and presentations. The ability to identify challenges and create solutions is critical, specific duties include developing business proposals to resolve critical challenges.This individual will be working with a variety of external groups so excellent communication skills are a must.

Qualifications7-10 years experience working with application development in large-scale IT environments preferably in the finance industry. Bachelor or Masters in Computer Science or Engineering. Strong background and development experience with Rich Internet UI technologies, including Flex/Flash, JavaSCript, XHTML, Ajax, Silverlight.Strong background in Enterprise Application Development or Architecture and/or Web Development Subject matter expert across multiple technologies, architectures, and business applications with special emphasis on Web UI technologies.5-7 years experience with Java, J2EE, HTML, JSP, XML, C++, Web and enterprise technologies Experience with SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) required Websphere Application Server experience a plusCommunications – escalates issues and proposed solutions to team management and business sponsors. Communicates in writing (presentations and white papers) and orally in a clear, concise manner with input from senior management. Spokesperson for product strategy and team dynamics when communicating with external constituenciesLeadership – Exhibits strong leadership and influencing characteristics. Should be considered an authority by peers and groups engaged withDecision Making – makes project related decisions independently and provides input into decisions impacting the broader team. Seeks senior management advice and guidance as needed for decisions with long-term or strategic impact to the IT organization decisions. Seeks guidance for critical decisions with broad business exposure and high riskProblem Solving – solves complex tactical and operational problems/issues with little to no guidance from senior management. Provides input into solving strategic issues with product and personnelBusiness/Application Knowledge – demonstrates deep knowledge/expertise in multiple and inter-dependant business applications and processes.
