Application Support Specialist

Job ID: 541Position Description: 1. Provide timely, independent support to users of the GMI application, including limited consulting, implementations, and development.2. Act in the role of Traffic Controller for the Global Help Desk. This includes providing initial investigations into issues and updating with relevant related issues, setups, questions, etc. and passing the issues along to Client Service Representatives and other Application Support Analysts.3. Serve periodic rotations on the Global Help Desk, answering client calls, responding to client e-mails, and logging new client issues.4. Provide support to peripheral applications of the AS/400 that impact on the performance and use of the GMI application, including OS/400, AS/400 communications, MQM, and other common AS/400 issues.5. Communicate with the client base by means of e-mail, phones, and Client Service Bulletins.6. Write Management Overviews for issues that require programming changes.7. Write Functional Specifications for issues which are deemed as enhancements to the GMI application, so the clients can read and approve programming changes.8. Choose one (or more) of the GMI System Areas and Subsystems upon which to focus their attention, developing extra expertise in this area or subsystem.9. Perform additional responsibilities as delegated by SunGard management staff.Additional Responsibilities: .1. Be able to successfully use all available internal tools for issue investigation2. Work “early shift” from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. CDT3. Work “evening shift” from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. CDT4. Serve as mentor to more junior-level members of the Client Service Department.5. Distribute programs to clients via Client Service Bulletin libraries.Position Requirements:• Excellent oral and written communications skills.• Four-Year college degree or the equivalent industry experience.• Successful completion of SunGard Bootcamp or independent, internal training.• At least one year of direct support for the GMI application..
