Current Opportunity – Associate Systems Architect, Future Talent ProgramThis is a growth position in the Technology Architecture organization. Associate architects will leverage their general education as well as technical and business training and experience to learn the Architecture discipline. Assignments will span the Architecture discipline and team objectives to provide exposure to the wide range of activities that Architects perform. Specific assignments will be tailored to individual skills and interests. Objectives in 2008 will provide initial focus in the following areas: Technology strategy; Architecture principles and standards; project-specific architecture specification; technology governance and lifecycles management; functional performance metrics; and functional architecture tools. More broadly, Architects at Omgeo help facilitate design and implementation to direct and constrain technical solutions in order to meet short term Product objectives and drive longer-range business and technical strategies. Senior-level architects leverage deep technical expertise to enhance execution of project implementations: promote reuse, simplify the technical environment, improve technical efficiencies, and reduce the cost and timescale of development. In this role you will:· Participate in Technology Strategy activities and quarterly Product Plan updates. Assist with scoping of technical frameworks and specifications during project initiation, requirements gathering, and solution design. · Work collaboratively with other Omgeo architects and engineering teams, to design and document the architecture, make technology selections, facilitate design decisions that enhance execution of projects on Omgeo’s Product Delivery Plan. Participate on project execution teams to help assure delivery of functional requirements, support our business and technical strategies, and meet business requirements for security, performance, scalability, capacity, availability, and BCP.· Assist Architecture team developing technology governance practices and procedures relating selection and adoption of new technologies, incorporate technologies into mainstream use within the Technology organization, and managed migration and retirement of technologies at end-of-life. Research best practices and adapt to Omgeo’s needs. · Work with other architects in the group to design and implement collaboration tools to enhance the team’s ability to deliver, measure, and track architecture strategies, principles, standards, and models.· Acquire and leverage knowledge about Omgeo’s business and product services. Deepen technical expertise in various technical domains, potentially including web and other client-facing technologies, messaging, application middleware, databases and data modeling, networking, systems infrastructure, and security. Requirements· BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent combination of related degree and technical experience· Technical aptitude and competence in one or more technical disciplines, such as software engineering, systems administration or engineering, networks, databases, security, UNIX, and technology operations.· Ability to analyze complex multi-dimensional requirements and map to technical architecture.· Understanding of critical success factors for high uptime, high transaction rate implementations. ability to tune systems for performance and capacity· Technical training and/or experience in one or more technology field· Education/training and/or experience in high-level analytical field · Eligibility to work in the US without Omgeo visa sponsorshipOmgeo’s Technology group is a team of approximately 150 engineering and technology professionals responsible for ensuring Omgeo's continued success by developing and overseeing technology strategies that allow for efficient and timely product creation, growth and delivery.
