Associate of Industry Monitoring Summary
The Industry Monitoring Group will deliver high-quality industry coverage of the Firm’s Corporate Finance and Institutional Sales/Trading industry verticals: such as Energy/Power, Healthcare, Homebuilders, Consumer Products, Telecommunications, Security/Defense and industrial sub-sectors. The Associate will lead a staff of Analysts and a Marketing Administrator to produce such industry reports as directed by the needs of the Firm.
Primary Associate of Industry Monitoring Responsibilities:Author reports of targeted industries through daily interaction and industry monitoring projects across multiple working groups within the Firm including Corporate Finance, Institutional Sales/Trading, Asset Management, etc.Manage day-to-day operations of the group, including the supervision and mentoring of Industry Monitoring Analysts.Act as primary point of contact in coordinating and producing industry reports and industry monitoring initiatives on behalf of the Firm’s various groups.Identify investment opportunities via targeted industry research and analysis and general market news and developments.Establish and author quarterly industry reports to be distributed internally and to a broad audience of Investment Banking professionals.Provide Sales Force and Investment Bankers with concise, analytical overviews of industry sectors to provide information and leverage transaction negotiations and trades.Responsible for all financial analysis including financial comp analysis and financial model analysis to prepare the targeted reports and qualitative analysis on specific industries/markets and market share by industry.Deliver financial analytics and qualitative analysis within written reports covering industry sectors.
Secondary Associate of Industry Monitoring Responsibilities:
Manage and deliver special projects for Imperial’s Executive Committee as needed.
Supervisory Associate of Industry Monitoring Responsibilities:Manage and develop Industry Monitoring Analysts and Marketing Administrator including recruiting, training, supervising and evaluating department staff.Responsible for annual performance reviews of team as well as ongoing performance communication with department.Establish performance goals, allocate resources and assess policies for employees.
Essential Associate of Industry Monitoring Skills & QualificationsAbility to effectively communicate with a variety of internal groups to include Corporate Finance, Sales & Trading and the Fundamental Investment Research Group as well as outside clients to both understand the requests coming in to the group as well as to be able to cogently explain the research that the group conductedPossess demonstrated industry specialized analysis experience and a network of related industry contactsAbility to conduct analysis of financial projections and impact of financing, transaction and operational variables through preparation of valuation models; solid financial modeling skillsSuperior writing skillsAbility to thrive in a fast paced, deadline driven environment with a proven commitment to turning in consistently high quality work as a self starter. High level of integrity, energy and flexibility with a positive team oriented “can-do” attitudeExperience with industry research.Strong interpersonal relationships skills are critical. Must have solid communication skills and a personal style conducive to building relationships.Strong teamwork orientation, unquestionable honesty and integrity, intellectual curiosity and dedication to providing the best quality deliverables
Education & ExperienceMinimum of 5 years of experience working in a Corporate Finance or Investment Research capacityExperience in investment banking/brokerage industryBachelor’s Degree required; MBA preferred
