Business Development Consultant - Advisor Workstation Office Edition

Morningstar’s Business Development Consultant position is for individuals inspired by change, challenge, and creativity, with a passion for working directly with people. This is a position focused on sales of Morningstar’s Advisor Workstation Office Edition and other productivity solutions to the professional investment community (i.e., financial advisors). A successful Business Development Consultant will have a thorough knowledge and understanding of solution-based selling, maintain strong relationships/client satisfaction, and focus on selling/upselling products and services.  It is a fast-paced, autonomous, and high-risk/high-return environment.  This is a remote position. Approximately 30% of your time will be dedicated to meeting with clients within your assigned territory.

 

The primary focus of this position is to generate revenue by selling Morningstar’s Advisor Workstation Office Edition product and other related products by effectively managing your sales territory and selling activities.  To accomplish this, you should be able to develop and maintain relationships, uncover customer needs, and creatively assemble solutions for clients through Morningstar’s Advisor product offerings. 

 

A rich knowledge of our product portfolio and how our products can work together to serve client business needs is critical.  Key skills/characteristics of a successful Sales Consultants include: ability to quickly develop rapport and find common ground with customers/prospects; maturity, enthusiasm, and confidence; intelligence and natural curiosity, having an appropriate sense of humor; excellent phone and in-person communication skills; comfort with technology and software; effective listening; ability to think on your feet and handle objections; time management and self-discipline.

 

Candidates must have a bachelor`s degree and two or more years of field/phone sales experience using a consultative approach. One to two years of direct exposure to the financial marketplace will be helpful, as will comfort working with technology and software. Candidates must have strong analytical and negotiating skills, as well as proven success in achieving sales targets and growing sales. Time management skills, self-discipline, self-motivation, and the ability to keep up with a fast-paced work environment are all critical.
