Collector

Bethpage Federal Credit Union is searching for a Collector to work in the collections department. In this position the ideal candidate will speak to members and agree to payment plans on past due accounts that cure accounts within the required guidelines. They will be able to initiate and remove administrative freezes and hotcards; offset accounts; recommend extensions, line closures and Agency/Attorney referrals. The candidate should have a minimum of three years Credit Union/Bank Real Estate collection experience, including, but not limited to, foreclosure avoidance, loss mitigation, short sales, foreclosure processes and Real Estate Owned (REO) remarketing. Experience servicing Fannie Mae and/or Charlie Mac mortgages preferred. College degree preferred. Additional skills include:- Skip tracing - locating members who have moved and/or changed phone numbers.- Asset location - Verifying home ownership, locating employment, bank accounts, and collateral (autos, boats, motorcycles, recreational vehicles). - Superior communication skills (Listening, speaking, writing) - Problem resolution- Multi-tasking- Ability to handle large call volumes- Attention to detail & strong follow up skills- Excel, Word, Outlook.
