The Teachers Retirement System of Georgia (TRS) is one of the nation’s leading retirement systems, serving more than 300,000 members, retirees and employers. TRS is currently seeking a Communications Coordinator. 

The Communications Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Communications Director with the administration, coordination, creation, production and implementation of marketing and communication projects, campaigns and special events. This position is perfect for an innovative, hard-working, resourceful self-starter interested in learning new skills and growing with the agency. This person will help coordinate external communications to convey a positive identity for the agency, as well as assist with internal communications to build employee awareness and support the agency’s overall goals and objectives.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Coordinate logistics for outreach program with event hosts, customers, and TRS retirement planners

• Develop, collate and ship materials to outreach destinations.

• Assist with the design and creation of marketing materials, including, but not limited to, newsletters, surveys, annual reports, member statements, direct mail campaigns and members guide

• Assist in the development and implementation of various marketing/communications programs

• Maintain the content on the agency’s internet and intranet sites

• Write, proof, and edit written materials

• Manage marketing material and equipment inventory

• Develop and manage vendor relationships; monitor print-job progress and delivery

• Develop and maintain excellent relationships with customer contacts, team members, and other employees who provide information and input, and agency executives

• Gather and analyze market data

• Travel to customer events throughout the State of Georgia as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• A bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university with a major in Communications, Marketing, English or related field is required

• Excellent oral and written communications skills

• Excellent knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, grammar, and style guide required

• A minimum of 1-2 years of graphic design experience

• Ability to multi-task and work successfully with multiple customer groups (both internal and external)

• Demonstrated knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and PhotoShop; Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

• Demonstrated knowledge of print production

• Excellent understanding of print media, as well as online media and knows how to adapt content towards specific audiences

• Ability to design and write marketing materials that engage and attract viewers

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• 1-2 years work experience in a marketing or communications position

• A minimum of 1-2 years of business writing and editing content in a financial services environment
