Under general supervision, operates computer and peripheral equipment and runs routine scheduled programs. Monitors, reports and ensures production schedule is followed. Make adjustments to production schedules and jobs following programmer's instruction. Observes operation of computer and components and corrects readily recognizable functional discrepancies. Seeks assistance of senior operating personnel or supervisor if unable to correct errors.

Responsibilities: Ensuring availability and security of magnetic tapes, data transmitted files and printers for processing purposes. Controlling and directing the computer operation via written instructions.Monitoring computer functions using screen-based operator consoles and other indicators. Supervising the output, distribution and filing of computer information to users and management. Monitoring data communication links and responding to system requests and messages. Undertaking computer housekeeping functions including the recording of computer running time, completed runs, down time, scheduled maintenance, equipment inventories and operational irregularities.Required Skills

High school diploma or equivalent Must have knowledge of OS/390 or MVS, JCL, ISPF and a minimum of two years of Computer Operator experience. Some experience with a mainframe-scheduling package preferredSystematic and methodical approach to implementing instructions High attention to detail Logical approach to solving day-to-day problems Ability to work quickly and accurately Ability to work well under pressure Ability to take initiative and make quick decisions Remote batch processing for the TAX system SLA monitoring Server Reboots and general troubleshootingRequired Experience
