Country Risk Analyst

Job Description: The Country Risk Analyst position reports to Global Risk Management of Wells Fargo's International Financial Services group (IFS). The Analyst is responsible for assisting in the management of the country risk process governing Wells Fargo's international exposures, with particular focus on Global Correspondent Banking (GCBK), the Trade Bank and Foreign Exchange.The Analyst is responsible for the ongoing monitoring of economic and political developments in a number of specified countries of strategic importance to IFS, and has primary responsibility for bringing to management’s attention changes that may affect the countries’ ability to service their international debt. The Analyst reviews and evaluates information on current political and economic developments in each country. This information comes from a variety of sources including available data from published material as well as observations and intelligence from GCBK relationship managers assigned to various countries.In addition to the ongoing review, the Analyst prepares periodic country risk evaluation reports recommending country risk ratings and specific country risk limits for each country. The reports consist of a review of the factors influencing the country's economic performance, including a summary of current economic and political developments with an emphasis on the external sector. Included in each report is a review of the country's banking system and the bank regulatory environment. The reports are presented for review and approval to senior management in country risk review meetings in which the Analyst takes an active part.Please note: Top priority will be given to candidates for San Francisco; however, we will consider locating this position in Minneapolis or New York.
