Data Architect

The Data Architect’s role is to strategically design the information architecture for the data warehouses, data marts, and data stores, while ensuring high levels of data availability. Develops logical and physical data modeling and is responsible for data acquisition and access analysis and design. This individual reviews requests for data and data usage; researches data sources for new and better data feeds and is also responsible for assisting in defining data definition standards.

1. Coordinate and work with other technical staff to develop database architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures. (20%).
2. Develops process for capturing and maintaining metadata. (10%)
3. Create conceptual, logical and physical data base models for data warehouse development and/or changes to existing data stores. (30%)
4. Coordinates new data development ensuring consistency and integration with existing warehouse structure. (10%)
5. Identify data discrepancies and data quality issues, and work to ensure data consistency and integrity. (10%)
6. Assess and cultivate strategic goals for data warehousing in conjunction with the key stakeholders. (5%)
7. Design data architecture that integrates new and existing BI environments. (15%)

Associated Duties:
 Works closely with the Meta Data Specialist to standardize data definitions and building the Metadata repository.
 Works closely with the Data Quality Specialist to profile the data for quality control.
 May fill the role of Data Quality Specialist, until a suitable candidate is found.

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Computer Science.

3 or more years of experience in a data architect or data quality role.

• Prior data warehouse and business intelligence experience.
• Understanding and experience in Corporate Information Factory.
• Strong conceptual, relation and dimensional data modeling and data base design skills.
• Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• This person must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently, make sound business decisions and drive a task to completion.
